To get from Shannon Airport to Jamaica Inn:

By car - Take the N19 from the airport. Take the M18 in the direction of Limerick. After 2km, turn off the M18 and take the R471 to Sixmilebridge. In Sixmilebridge centre, follow the signs for the Jamaica Inn.   The total distance to the hostel is 12km.

By bicycle -  Same route as by car.

By bus -  Buses leave the airport for Sixmilebridge at the following times:
Mon - Fri: 07.55, 10.20, 16.30
Sat: - 07.55, 10.20,
Sun: - no bus
The bus arrives in Sixmilebridge 25 mins later. The bus fare is about 4.50 euro. Get off the bus at "The Square" in Sixmilebridge.  The bus stop is about 200m from Jamaica Inn. There is a sign near the bus stop pointing the way to the hostel.


By taxi - The airport taxi rank is outside the arrivals building. The fare to the Jamaica Inn is €25.  The private taxi fare is €20. To get this fare you must telephone the taxi to come and pick you up.

To get from Limerick to Jamaica Inn:

By car - Take the N18 from the city in the direction of Galway/Ennis/Shannon Airport. After about 10 km, turn off the N18 and take the R462 for 6km to Sixmilebridge. In Sixmilebridge centre, follow the signs for the Jamaica Inn. The total distance to the  hostel is 16km.

By bicycle -  Take the old Cratloe road which runs parallel to and east of the N18 to Cratloe village. From there take the  R462 to Sixmilebridge.

By bus - Buses leave Limerick bus station for Sixmilebridge at the following times:
Mon - Fri: 07.00, 13.10, 14.35, 16.15, 17.30
Sat: - 07.00, 13.10, 14.35, 17.30
Sun: - no bus
The bus arrives in Sixmilebridge 30 mins later. The bus fare is about 5 euro. Get off the bus at "The Square" in    Sixmilebridge. The bus stop is about 200m from Jamaica Inn. There is a sign near the bus stop pointing the way to the hostel.

By taxi - The taxi rank is outside the Bus & train station. The fare is about €25.

By train - There are 10 trains per day from Limerick to Sixmilebridge. Train times are on the Irish rail web site. Look for the Limerick to Galway timetable.
The journey time is 20 mins. The fare is about 8 euro 1-way, 11 euro return.The station is about 600m or a 15min. walk to the Jamaica Inn.

 

To get from Ennis to Jamaica Inn:

By carRoute 1. - Take the M18 in the direction of Shannon Airport/Limerick. About 2 km after the Shannon Airport  junction,  turn off the M18 and take the R471 to Sixmilebridge. In Sixmilebridge centre, follow the signs for the Jamaica  Inn. The total distance to the  hostel is 20km.
Route 2. – Take the R469 in the direction of Quin. Continue through Quin in the direction of Sixmilebridge. Just before entering Sixmilebridge, the Jamaica Inn is on the left. The total distance to the  hostel is 18km.

By bicycle -  Take Route 2 described above.

By bus – There is no direct bus from Ennis to Sixmilebridge. You must go via Shannon Airport or Limerick. A bus leaves Ennis every hour for these destinations.

By taxi - The taxi rank is outside the Bus & train station.The fare is about €25.                                                                                                                        

By train - There are 11 trains per day from Ennis to Sixmilebridge. Train times are on the Irish rail web site. Look for the Galway to Limerick timetable.
The journey time is 20 mins. The fare is about 8 euro 1-way, 11 euro return. The
station is about 600m or a 15 min. walk to the Jamaica Inn.

 

To get from Galway to Jamaica Inn:

By car - Exit the city centre following signs for the N18. Take the N18 in the direction of Limerick/Ennis/Shannon Airport. Close to Ennis the road number changes to the M18.  About 2 km after the Shannon Airport junction, turn off the M18 and take the R471 to Sixmilebridge. In Sixmilebridge centre, follow the signs for the Jamaica Inn. The total distance to the  hostel is 75km or about 75 minutes driving.

By bus - Take a bus to Shannon Airport or Limerick. Change there for a bus to Sixmilebridge.

By taxi - Forget it. It's too expensive!

By train - Trains leave Galway train station for Sixmilebridge at the following times:
Mon - Sat: 06.40, 09.45, 12.10, 14.30, 17.25.               

Sun. & public holidays: - 08.25, 12.05, 16.25, 18.40. The train arrives in Sixmilebridge station 1 hour 40 mins later. The train fare is about 14 euro, 1 way, 19 euro return. The station is about 600m or a 15min. walk to the Jamaica Inn

To get  from the Jamaica Inn to Limerick:

By bus - Buses leave Sixmilebridge for Limerick bus station at the following times:
Mon - Fri: 08.20, 10.45, 16.55
Sat: - 08.20, 10.45
Sun: - no bus
The bus arrives in Limerick bus station about 35 mins later. The bus fare is about €5.

By taxi – Hostel reception will call a taxi for you, if you wish. The fare is €28.

By train - There are 11 trains per day from Sixmilebridge to Limerick. Train times are on the Irish rail web site. Look for the Galway to Limerick timetable.
The journey time is 20 mins. The fare is about 9 euro, 1-way, 11 euro return.

 

To get  from the Jamaica Inn to Shannon Airport:

By bus - Buses leave Sixmilebridge for Shannon Airport at the following times:
Mon - Fri: 07.20, 13.30, 14.55
Sat: - 07.20, 13.30
Sun: - no bus
The bus arrives in Shannon about 30 mins later. The bus fare is about €4.

By taxi – Hostel reception will call a taxi for you, if you wish. The fare is €20. 

 

To get  from the Jamaica Inn to Galway:

By car - The direct route: Take the R471 towards Shannon Airport. Take the M18/N18 towards Ennis & Galway.        The scenic route: This route is via the R462 to Tulla and Gort. The total distance is 75km or about 75 minutes driving. Reception will give you further details.

By bus - Take a bus to Shannon Airport or Limerick. Change there for a bus to Galway. The bus to Galway leaves Limerick at 25 minutes past the hour and leaves Shannon at 55 minutes past the hour, every hour. It arrives in Galway about 2 hours later.

By taxi - Forget it. It's too expensive! If you have to, reception will call a taxi for you.

By train - Trains leave Sixmilebridge for Galway train station at the following times:
Mon - Sat: 06.21, 09.56, 12.16, 14.36, 18.26.               
Sun. & public holidays: - 09.21, 13.01, 16.31, 18.51. The train arrives in Galway 1hour 40 mins later. The train fare is about 14 euro, 1 way, 19 euro return.

To get  from the Jamaica Inn to the Cliffs of Moher:

By bus - Take a bus from Sixmilebridge to Limerick. The bus to the Cliffs leaves Limerick at the following times:
Mon to Sat: 09.25, 17.35
Sun: - 11.25, 19.15.

From 1st. June to 28th Sept: there is an extra bus leaving Limerick at 13.35.

Journey time is 1 hour 50 mins. The bus fare is about €15.

By taxi – Expensive, but some of our guests have done it! Expect to pay about 75 euro for up to 4 people. Hostel reception will call a taxi for you, if you wish.

By train - Take a train from Sixmilebridge to Limerick (see above for timetable). From there, take the bus.
